5 Creepy Urban Legends from Japan

Japan, land of sun rise, anime and sushi. Nobody could ever think about Japan as a creepy place. But, however there are some urban legends which will change your thinking completely.

                                   

                                                              5. Hanko san

 

Hanko San or Toire no Hanko San is the spirit of a young girl, who haunts the school bathrooms. 

As per the legends, a person who goes to the third stall in the girls' bathroom, knocks three times and asks, "Are you there Hanko san?" will hear a voice answer, "I'm here". If the person enters the bathroom after her answer, will be eaten by a three headed lizard. In another variation, a large hand will drag that person into the bathroom, and will be killed. 

                                                           4. Gozu ( Cow Head )

Gozu or cow head is a Japanese urban legend, about a fictional story called "Cow Head". 

Legend says that the story is so horrifying that people who read or hears it are cloaked with terror so great that they tremble violently for days until they dies.

                                                                 3. Kokkuri san

Kokkuri san is a kind of Japanese Ouija board. In this players write down hiragana characters and place their finger on a coin, before asking Kokkuri san any question.

A variation of the legend says that it will only tell the player about their time of death.

In another variation, players can ask Kokkuri san any question, but he/she must finish the game correctly. Either by thanking Kokkuri san or by disposing the game materials within a limited time, like using the coin to buy something or using up the pen to write hiragana.                                                                        2. Aka Monto

Aka Monto is a spirit who haunts the last stall in the ladies bathroom ( Pervert ). He's described as a boy wearing a mask to hide his extremely pretty face. 

According to the legend, when someone is in the last stall of the toilet, a mysterious voice will ask, "Do you want red paper or blue?". If you say red, you'll be killed violently and drenched in blood. If you say blue, he will strangle you or will bled you dry, leaving your body blue. Also, you say any other colour, well... You'll die either way. 

The only way to protect yourself from getting killed is denying to take any. In other word, " Leave me alone you pervert! I don't need your freaking paper!"

                                                            1. Kuchisake - onna

Kuchisake - onna is a women who was mutilated by her husband and returns as a wrathful spirit.

According to the legends, the women moves around wearing a surgical mask. Then women will ask her victim, "Am I pretty?" If you say "No", then she will kill you right away, and if you say "Yes!", she'll remove her mask and will show her real face. The mouth slit from ear to ear. Then she'll ask again, " Am I pretty? ", again if you say "Yes", she'll slit your face like her, and if you say "No", she will kill you! Simple!! If you try to run, she'll appear in front of you again until you answer. [[NO WAY OUT!!]] 

The only way to save yourself from her is, by telling her that you're going to meet your lover. Then she'll apologize for her behavior and will leave, also by asking her own question back on her face, which will make her confused and will give you enough time to escape from her!!
